Alumni Association

Smoothie Bike 2

Throughout the course of the year, ND Energy partners with the Notre Dame Alumni Association at several events to engage with alumni and their families.

ND for the Environment: Comprised of ND Energy, the Office of Sustainability, and the Minor in Sustainability, ND for the Environment was initiated by the Alumni Association in 2017 to showcase the many ways in which the university is working to address environmental issues and helping to combat the negative effects of climate change on the environment. The original thought was to use Football Fridays as the primary venue since thousands of alumni and interested fans are on campus for home football games. This idea has since expanded to include other venues such as the Alumni Association’s Leadership Conference and Alumni Reunion Weekend.

Children's Camp

Reunion Weekend: During Reunion Weekend, ND Energy participates in ND Explores STEM, an annual event sponsored by Notre Dame Research and the Colleges of Engineering and Science. The 2019 festivities featured STEM-themed food, drinks, and experiential activities. Alumni were able to view energy-related demonstrations and learn about ND Energy's research, education, and outreach programs.

ND Energy, with the help of graduate students Nayara Aguiar and Jeffrey DuBose, also entertained and educated participants of the Alumni Association's children's camp during Reunion 2019. The young explorers moved between five stations to see smoothies made by pedal power, mini-solar cars, ultraviolet light and fluorescence, rubber band power, and separation art.
