2024 Summer Lab Olympic Events Challenge
Welcome to the 2024 Summer Lab Olympic Events Challenge!
As a summer undergraduate researcher at Notre Dame, you are eligible to compete in a weekly Lab Olympic Events Challenge. The game is simple ... for every Lab Olympic Event you attend, you will earn points, and at the end of the summer, you will qualify for a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal along with some amazing Lab Olympic Grand Prizes!!
Olympic Game Period
You will have opportunities to earn points from May 29 to July 24. The weekly Lab Olympic Events Challenge begins with the Inaugural Welcome Convocation on May 29 and ends with the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium and 3MT Competition on July 24. In between, you will be invited to attend other social and professional development events to broaden your professional network, gain new skills and knowledge, and meet new friends! You will be asked to register for each event, so we know how many competitors to expect for food and refreshments. (If you attended the Inaugural Welcome Convocation, please fill in the Olympic Ring for the week of May 27 as soon as you download your Game Card.)
Here's How to Play
- Download the Olympic Game Card and file it somewhere for easy access.
- Attend a scheduled Olympic Event and then fill in an Olympic Ring on your Game Card for that week.
- At the end of the summer, turn in your Game Card to your summer program coordinator for a final score.
- Depending on your final score, you will win a Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal along with an amazing Lab Olympic Grand Prize!
- Go for Gold - attend 15-22 events | Go for Silver - attend 8-14 events | Go for Bronze - attend 1-7 events.
Plan Ahead!
- Use the QR code to stay updated on Olympic Events.
- Mark your calendar in advance of receiving invitations.
- Remember to inform your faculty adviser, mentor, and lab partner whenever you are planning to be away for an Olympic Event, especially during the day.
