ND Energy announces its fifth annual research symposium focused on research and scholarship in support of the 2021-22 Notre Dame Forum on Care for our Common Home: Just Transition to a Sustainable Future. The symposium will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. in McKenna Hall at the University of Notre Dame. All members of the Notre Dame community are invited to attend.
During the symposium, faculty affiliates and research associates will discuss current research projects and engage participants in conversations to stimulate action towards transitioning to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for generations to come. The agenda includes presentations focused on the topics below and a poster session with postdoctoral scholars and undergraduate and graduate students sharing a broad range of relevant research projects during a networking reception.

The symposium also highlights Notre Dame faculty who are well-prepared and have the expertise to address some of the most urgent issues surrounding climate change and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The lineup of this year's speakers follows:

- Yamil Colón, Assistant Professor, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
- Kyle Doudrick, Associate Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences
- Alexander Dowling, Assistant Professor, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
- Tengfei Luo, Professor, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering
- Jennifer Schaefer, Associate Professor, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
- Emily Tsui, Assistant Professor, Chemistry and Biochemistry
Additionally, James Thompson, Associate Vice President for Innovation, and Steven Asiala, Faculty Engagement Associate, will discuss the IDEA Center's ambitious plans to build an innovation ecosystem during the luncheon presentation. Abstracts of the talks can be viewed here.
ND Energy has hosted a research symposium annually since 2018, bringing together researchers, scholars, students, and sustainability professionals from academia, industry, and government to discuss some of the most important challenges and opportunities in sustainable energy research and development facing the world today.
