Indiana Dunes National Park Civic Voice Workshop 2024

Civil Voice Workshop

Learn how environmental protection combines strong science with effective communication strategies

There is still time to sign up for the February 9th FREE workshop for undergraduate students being put on by the National Park Service and the National Parks Conservation Association on how to conserve and protect unique spaces. The Civic Voice Workshop introduces students to science and restoration happening at the Indiana Dunes, the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and how to speak up for places they care about.

Using the history of Indiana Dunes and the National Parks as illustrations, participants will learn how to:

  • Craft a compelling message that combines facts, science, and personal passion
  • Persuade decision makers to support sound environmental policies
  • Get involved in supporting your national parks and conservation in your area
  • Advance your career
Students will also meet local experts and learn about job and volunteer opportunities within the National Park Service and other local conservation groups.

Register by February 9: bit.ly/INDU2024. Once registered, you will receive a quick pre-workshop survey, so please add your voice. After the workshop, all are welcome to stay for a short hike through beautiful Miller Woods with park scientists.
