Current Events Coffee Hour: Is Nuclear Disarmament Dead? Was it Ever Alive?

Jerry P Coffee Hour Web

Featuring Gerard Powers, Director, Catholic Peacebuilding Studies; Coordinator, Catholic Peacebuilding Network

Several times a semester, a different member of the Kroc Institute community will facilitate an informal conversation about a timely topic relating to their work or research. Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to join us for these chats about the ongoing work of peace studies in the world.

Coffee, tea, and refreshments will be provided.

The conversation on October 28 will look at the history, past, and present reality of the global movement for nuclear disarmament. Where do conversations stand today, when most people seem desensitized to the potential possibility of nuclear war? How have conversations changed, if at all, since the start of the war in Ukraine? Professor Jerry Powers is one of the leaders of the national Project on Revitalizing Catholic Engagement on Nuclear Disarmament, and will lead this week's conversation.

Sponsored by the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies.
