Nominations for the 2022 U.S. C3E Awards are now open. The deadline for nominations is March 10, 2022.

The U.S. Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) Initiative is implemented in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, MIT Energy Initiative, Stanford University’s Precourt Institute for Energy, and the Texas A&M Energy Institute.

The goal is to recognize mid-career women in clean energy fields who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and extraordinary achievements.

Awardees receive $8,000 to further the goals of the U.S. C3E Initiative and are recognized at the annual U.S. C3E Women in Clean Energy Symposium.

Awards are given in eight specific categories summarized below.

• Business: Leaders within private entities who have accelerated clean energy within their own business footprints or portfolios.
• Education & Advocacy: Advocates or educators working in nongovernment, public interest organizations, K-12, technical, vocational schools, or universities who have driven clean energy policies and technologies in society or have helped to increase clean energy literacy and/or workforce development.
• Entrepreneurship: Entrepreneurs who have developed clean energy technologies or business models.
• Government: Local, state, or federal government employees who have advanced clean energy policies, regulations, or incentives.
• International: Individuals who have developed or deployed clean energy products and services to expand clean energy around the world.
• Law & Finance: Lawyers, finance professionals, or academics who have enabled or advanced clean energy financial solutions or regularly structures.
• Social, Economic, & Policy Innovation: Scientists, researchers, and practitioners working at universities, national labs, or in industry who affect the adoption of clean energy systems through research, new technologies, economics, public policy, equity, and decision-making.
• Technology Research & Innovation: Scientists and researchers working at universities, national labs, or in industry who are researching and developing advanced innovative clean energy technologies with the potential for demonstrable and scalable impact.

MAKE A NOMINATION

Nominations may be submitted by employers, universities, professional societies, membership organizations, associations, community groups, or individuals that know the accomplishments and capabilities of their nominee first-hand. Self-nomination is not allowed.

Nominees should have a record of significant accomplishments, leadership qualities and other relevant attributes, and mentorship of women and girls. They should also be in good standing in their field and communities.
