Abstract
What if trash weren’t trash at all? Managing the waste of today’s society is one of the greatest challenges of our time. The modern landfill is a feat of contemporary engineering, keeping our groundwater clean and controlling subsurface gas migration. But we can go further than just safe disposal – we can harness the methane from the trash we produce to sustainably fuel every facet of our economy – from critical transportation to keeping the lights on.
