Research
Professor Brewickâs research focuses on exploring the connections between data analytics, modeling, and mechanics. His research tackles the challenge of turning measurements into useful, informed models that accurately reflect the behavior and characteristics of the physical system while also incorporating the material uncertainties, behavioral nonlinearities, and noisy or incomplete measurements. Prof. Brewick is currently exploring the use of distributed fiber optic sensing systems, which have a variety of energy-relevant applications, including placement in composite turbine blades for strain monitoring.
Research Interests
System Identification, Structural Health Monitoring, Condition Assessment, Uncertainty Quantification, Model Calibration, Energy Conversion and Efficiency, Transformative Wind
