Research

With an interdisciplinary study on fluid mechanics and chemistry, Prof. Sakaue has two columns of research topics: luminescent imaging and chemical flow control. The former uses a nano-structured sensor that acquires chemical or physical quantities as time-resolved imaging. Chemical or physical quantities can be oxygen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, pressure, and temperature. The latter uses functional chemicals to control a flow or control a moving object in a flow. Currently, Prof. Sakaue develops a superhydrophobic coating for ice-prevention over an environmental surface.
