Laudato Si’ Week

Lsw English

This year marks the fifth anniversary of Laudato Si’: On Care for our Common Home, signed on 24 May 2015. Laudato si' (English: Praise Be to You!): On Care for our Common Home is the second encyclical of Pope Francis. In it, Pope Francis critiques consumerism and irresponsible development, laments environmental degradation and global warming, and calls all people of the world to take "swift and unified global action."

Recently announced by Pope Francis, Laudato Si’ Week will begin on Monday, May 18, and conclude on Sunday, May 24, at noon with a global moment of prayer.

The theme of Laudato Si’ Week is “everything is connected” with events and activities focused on how we treat God, nature, and each other, offering simple but profound truths about the bonds that unite us. Everyone is invited to come together as one people around the world to prayerfully discern the lessons of this moment. It is especially important at a time when the world is experiencing a history-defining crisis that we reflect and prepare to build a better world.
