Moderated by Jonathan George, Mendoza MBA student, panelists will provide a brief overview of their current initiatives related to energy efficient transportation management, services, design, production, and use, as well as the impact these initiatives have on economic growth and the future of mobility. Audience participation will be encouraged throughout the discussion, enabling direct questions to the panelists and open dialogue about the opportunities, risks, and challenges facing the transportation industry today and well into the future.
Michael Noland (’78) is the president and general manager of South Shore Line, Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District. He is responsible for the daily operations of a 90-mile stretch of commuter and intercity passenger rail services between the South Bend International Airport and Millennium Station in Chicago. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Notre Dame in 1978 and a Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School.
Matt Peak is the managing director of Energy Systems Network. He leads the mobility efforts to advance clean, safe, affordable transportation technology by collaborating with global corporate and strategic partners to reduce costs, emissions, and waste; influence policy; and advance technological innovation. Matt received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California-Los Angeles, a Master of Science in Environmental Policy from London School of Economics and Political Science, and Master of Business Administration from The Anderson School of Management, University of California-Los Angeles.
Chris Tindal is the assistant director of Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiatives (CAAFI). It is through his work with CAAFI and the U.S. Navy since 1980 that he has developed extensive knowledge and expertise in second and third generation advanced biofuels, advanced energy management concepts, renewable and alternative energy options, power production and distribution, and a comprehensive understanding of human behavior and how it affects energy awareness and use. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1980.
