The Call of Assisi: Towards a New Economy
Join a virtual conversation in anticipation of the Economy of Francesco, a global gathering convened by Pope Francis in Assisi, Italy March 26 – 28, 2020 to inspire a new economy rooted in solidarity and care for our common home. This two-hour video conference is hosted by a group of U.S. – based practitioners and students of new economic models that are the fruit of a culture of communion and solidarity. The video conference is animated by Pope Francis’ call to action to “enter into a ‘covenant’ to change today’s economy and to give a soul to the economy of tomorrow.”
From universities (Notre Dame, Boston College, Georgetown, Santa Clara, Creighton), to practitioners (Cooperative leaders, New Economy Coalition, Solidarity Economy Network, Democracy at Work Institute) -- from economists to spiritual leaders and journalists... the cohort of folks animated by Pope Francis’ call to action is growing.
The program will include:
- Opening Prayer
- Opening remarks by practitioners of the sharing economy
- Breakout Sessions
- Discussion of next steps in anticipation of Pope Francis’ gathering in March
- Closing Prayer
This interactive webinar is a collaboration between the Economy of Communion North America, Community Purchasing Alliance, Solidarity Hall, Catholic Impact Investing Collaborative ... and many more!
