Undergrad Research Fair

The 2019 Fall Undergraduate Research Fair (FURF) will be held on Thursday, October 31 in Jordan Hall of Science. This annual event is held the Thursday after fall mid-term break.

Schedule of Events:

  • Undergraduate Research Opportunities in Chemistry – 6:00-7:00 p.m., Room 101
  • Student Poster Presentations – 7:00-8:00 p.m., Galleria
  • Undergraduate Research Internship Information Night – 8:00-9:00 p.m., Room 101

Representatives from many organizations involved in providing, promoting, and supporting opportunities of undergraduate research will be present from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Galleria to answer questions and provide advice.

For reference, see last year's research: FURF Information Booklet (PDF ~1MB)

Students: Please consider presenting your research as a poster at FURF. FURF provides an opportunity for students to receive advice from fellow science students about getting involved in research. Presenting research is a great way to demonstrate the range of research possibilities available, as well as to develop the skills needed for giving a poster presentation.

Research presented in posters could have taken place at Notre Dame or another institution, and over the summer or during the semester. The research does not necessarily have to be scientific in nature; science students that have undertaken research in other areas of scholarly endeavor are also encouraged to present a poster. Also, such a presentation could reuse an existing poster that has been generated for another event or scientific meeting. Furthermore, all science majors are encouraged to present their research.

If you are interested in presenting your research, please register to submit your abstract and mentor's approval through the submission portal. The registration deadline is October 1, 2019.

For additional questions, email Xuemin (Sheryl) Lu, undergraduate research director.
