Civic Innovation Challenge Ideas Competition Submission Deadline

The National Science Foundation, Smart Cities Lab, and MetroLab Network, a consortium of university/city partnerships of which Notre Dame and South Bend are members, recently announced the Civic Innovation Challenge Ideas Competition to "identify challenges and priorities in your cities and communities that can benefit from technical exploration, scientific discovery, and new approaches."

Idea submissions will be accepted online through January 31, 2019 and should focus on one of the following areas: 

  • Equity & Access;
  • Resilience;
  • Mobility; or 
  • Built Environment.

For teams that include Notre Dame faculty, the College of Engineering's Center for Civic Innovation (CCI) is available to help develop ideas relevant to the local community and connect teams with public agencies to strengthen their submissions.Winning ideas are eligible for funding through MetroLab moving forward.
