LARGE CENTER PROPOSALS PANEL DISCUSSION

ND Energy is hosting a panel discussion featuring Notre Dame faculty who have successfully won (or are very close to winning) large center grant proposals. Faculty will share their personal experiences, best practices, and lessons learned with those of us who aspire to submit and win the upcoming and future calls for STCs, ERCs, EFRCs, and other similar opportunities. This event is open to all interested faculty, associated researchers, and staff at Notre Dame. 

Panelists are:

PAUL BOHN, Arthur J. Schmitt Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, concurrent professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Director of Advanced Diagnostics & Therapeutics

  • Dr. Bohn was co-PI on the NSF Science & Technology Center (STC) – The Center of Advanced Materials for Purification of Water with Systems (The WaterCAMPWS) – with lead organization, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, now considered by NSF as a graduated center from the Class of 2002.

PETER BURNS, Henry J. Massman Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences, concurrent professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Director of Center for Sustainable Energy at Notre Dame (ND Energy), and Director of EFRC Materials Science of Actinides (MSA)

  • Dr. Burns is the lead PI on the DOE Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) – Materials Science of Actinides (MSA) – established in 2009 and renewed in 2014.

WILLIAM SCHNEIDER, H. Clifford and Evelyn A. Brosey Professor of Engineering in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and concurrent professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry

  • Dr. Schneider is co-PI on an NSF Engineering Research Center (ERC) – Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources (CISTAR) – with lead organization, Purdue University – pending approval.
