“What’s It Really Like?” – Careers in Renewable Energy

The inaugural event of ND Energy’s 2016-17 What’s It Really Like? series will address the current state of employment in traditional and renewable energy jobs, as well as connections you can use at Notre Dame to explore this vital and growing field.  Second-year MBA student Jan Porvaznik will speak about his connections with entrepreneurs and start-ups in renewable energy. Victoria Trauger, Energy Career Exploration Specialist at Notre Dame’s Career Center, will review resources available for student use.

After the formal presentation, students will have the opportunity to break out into smaller groups to ask specific questions of the presenters.

Speakers:

Jan Porvaznik is currently a second-year MBA student at the Mendoza College of Business, preparing to continue his career in the area of infrastructure and project finance with a focus on emerging energy infrastructure. After earning an undergraduate and two masters degrees in Europe, he held several positions in management consulting and advising for energy entities in Central and Eastern Europe. He spent two years as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of California-Berkeley working on renewable energy, the smart grid, and climate and energy policy. This past summer he served as a business development/strategy intern with Sunpower in California.

Victoria Trauger is the Career Exploration Specialist for Biotechnology, Construction, Energy, Manufacturing, and Transportation at Notre Dame’s Career Center, as well as the Exploration liaison to the Colleges of Engineering and Science. After completing her B.A. in Psychology at Messiah College and her M.S.Ed in Counseling and Personnel Services at Fordham University, she served in career centers at New York University, Lafayette College, and Muhlenberg College. She has been at Notre Dame since 2014.
