Research Interests

Prof. Thrall is currently the Myron and Rosemary Noble Associate Professor of Structural Engineering, where she directs the Kinetic Structures Laboratory. Her research area focuses on numerically and experimentally understanding the behavior, design, and optimization of deploying structures with applications for the military, the developing world, and disaster relief. Recent research related to energy includes the design of a novel portable and rapidly erectable origami-inspired shelter with integrated energy planning and management, funded by the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center.
