Materials Characterization Facility
This facility will enable users to adequately characterize the properties of solid-state materials, combined with molecular structure characterization. Major equipment presently on campus but not centrally managed will be consolidated with new characterization capabilities.
Instruments that are 100% available for use in the MCF laboratory:
- Adsorption (BET) ASAP2020 (Micromeritics)
- DSC1 (Mettler Toledo)
- FTIR (Jasco)
- Microwave Reactor (CEM Corporation)
- Profilometer (Bruker)
- Raman (Jasco)
- TGA/DSC (Mettler Toledo), coupled with Mass Spectrometer (Pfeiffer)
- UV-Vis-NIR (Jasco)
- XPS-UHV (Thermo Electron)
Instruments that are shared and located in other laboratories:
132 Nieuwland Science Hall
Notre Dame, IN 46556
