Schedule of Events

Monday, October 6

10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Quad Display: Visit local and national companies and community organization booths that provide energy and ecofriendly services. Participants include BP, Indiana/Michigan Power, Inovateus Solar, GreeND, ND Energy, Notre Dame Food Services, Office of Sustainability, and more!

Location: South Quad near Fitzpatrick and Cushing Hall (rain location is the Hesburgh Library)

7:00 pm – Ultimate Frisbee!  Students are invited to turn off their dorm room lights and play Ultimate Frisbee with glow-in-the-dark Frisbees provided by ND Energy.

Location: South Quad outside of South Dining Hall (cancelled in the event of rain)

Tuesday, October 7

4:00 – 6:00 pm – Energy Research Poster Session:  See displays and visit with Notre Dame researchers about their energy related projects. Presenters and attendees are encouraged to stay and network and enjoy a cookout immediately after the event.

Location: Jordan Hall of Science Galleria


Wednesday, October 8

7:00 pm – Panel Discussion on Careers in Energy:  Representatives from local and national energy companies such as Inovateus, the City of South Bend, and Worley Parsons will present information about careers in the Energy business. There will be time following the presentations to network with these and other company representatives.

Location: Ballroom, LaFortune Student Center

3:00 pm & 4:00 pm – Notre Dame Power Plant Tours:  This is one of Notre Dame’s best kept tour secrets. Learn how the campus gets its power and the amazing energy saving measures the University has taken in recent years.  If you are unable to attend on Wednesday, there will be another opportunity to schedule a tour on Thursday.

Thursday, October 9

7:00 pm – Panel Discussion on Hydraulic Fracturing:  Listen to presentations from Dr. Anthony Ingraffea (ND ’69), Dwight C. Baum Professorship in Engineering, Cornell University; Mr. Herschel McDivitt, Director of Indiana DNR’s Division of Oil and Gas; and Dr. Farzad Taheripour, Research Assistant Professor for Agricultural Economics, Purdue University. There will be time for questions and discussion with attendees after the presentations.

Location: Room 101, Jordan Hall of Science

Friday, October 10

2:00 – 3:00 pm – Lecture on Sustainable Energy: Join Dr. Peter C Burns, Henry J. Massman Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences, ND Energy Director, and Energy Frontier Research Center Director, as he shares his insight into energy research at the Football Fridays: On the Sidelines.

Tours of the research laboratories in Stinson-Remick Hall will be held immediately following the presentation.
