Subhash L. Shinde
Subhash Shinde joined the Center for Sustainable Energy at Notre Dame (ND Energy) in November 2016 as the Associate Director. He has extensive experience in research and program development and will lead ND Energy’s research initiatives in global development and corporate programs. Prior to joining the University, Subhash held various positions within Sandia National Laboratories requiring strong leadership capabilities, extensive technical knowledge, and the acumen to organize well-functioning and productive teams. Prior to Sandia, he held various leadership positions in research at I.B.M. Microelectronics Division and Research for over ten years. Subhash is an accomplished author with several publications, including three edited books and a book chapter, and has more than sixty U.S. patents and another eighteen internationally. He is invited regularly to speak at national and international conferences and has received several awards for his work. Subhash received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from Stanford University and his B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India. His research interests are in concentrated solar power.
Subhash’s current responsibilities with ND Energy include the following:
- Develop corporate relationships with business, industry, academia, and government to support global research programs and large-center research grants.
- Advance energy-related research programs in developing nations and promote the scholarly achievements of research faculty and students involved in these programs.
- Create collaborative research teams and partnerships to compete for large-center research grants.
- Oversee the operation and expansion of the Materials Characterization Facility (MCF).
